Marketplace infrastructure, reimagined

Give every battery
a safer next stop.

A smart return service built into the parcel networks people already use. Scan, screen, seal and earn—while every accepted deposit enters a controlled recycling chain.

01 / OPPORTUNITY

The collection point is already on the high street.

Parcel lockers solve the hardest adoption problem: familiar, distributed, account-connected infrastructure. BattBox adds a purpose-built battery module—not a battery bag inside an ordinary parcel compartment.

THE PRODUCT HYPOTHESIS

Attach safe battery return to an existing marketplace habit.

One identity, one location network, one reward wallet and one service route. The marketplace becomes the convenient front door; an authorised battery compliance and treatment chain remains the operational back end.

SHOPCOLLECTRETURNREWARD
01

Safety before speed

No compaction, no blind chute, no damaged cells, and no instant final payout.

02

Trace without exposure

The pouch carries a rotating deposit ID—not a name, email, address or marketplace handle.

03

Reward verified effort

Tare-adjusted weight earns provisional points; anomalies and samples are reviewed fairly.

02 / EXPERIENCE PROTOTYPE

One drop. Five controlled checks.

This is the proposed Phase 1 flow for loose, undamaged portable household cells only. Vapes, devices, power banks and damaged batteries use a different route.

03 / SERVICE ARCHITECTURE

The box is only one part of the product.

BattBox is a governed chain from consumer instruction to authorised treatment evidence. Every hand-off has an owner, record and failure path.

04 / ENGINEERING CONCEPT

A safer deposit path, drawn from the inside out.

These R&D drawings define functional intent and interfaces. Dimensions are provisional; manufacture requires a qualified mechanical design, fire strategy, conformity assessment and site-specific approval.

06 / PRIOR-ART LANDSCAPE

Similar building blocks exist. The combination is the opportunity.

A rapid public-source scan found battery reverse-vending, QR reward bins, weighted recycling and coded-bag verification. BattBox should not claim the category is new; its defensible thesis is battery-safe integration with a marketplace parcel network.

Broad patents already describe identified users, weighing, coded containers and rewards; a 2024 application also covers smart battery collection/sorting. Commission a professional patentability and freedom-to-operate search before filing, disclosing detailed mechanism designs or selecting suppliers.

07 / PROPOSITION TO MARKETPLACES

Turn a last-mile network into a first-mile circular network.

BattBox gives a marketplace a visible, measurable return channel at locations its users already visit—without asking parcel compartments or ordinary couriers to carry loose batteries.

01

Compliance enablement

A partner-ready take-back route aligned with producer and distributor obligations, operated with a Battery Compliance Scheme and approved treatment partners.

02

Customer retention

Wallet credits and nearby returns create repeat app visits while rewarding a high-value safety behaviour.

03

Evidence, not claims

Auditable deposit, service and downstream-treatment events support reporting without presenting unverified weight as recycled output.

04

Network productivity

Co-location, remote fill status and route planning can lower the marginal cost of a distributed collection service.

PROTECTED COMMERCIAL ROOM

Who earns, who saves, and how FOLO-UP gets paid.

The detailed marketplace revenue model, council and public-service avoided-cost method, interactive assumptions and sponsor working papers now sit behind light partner-review access.

09 / SAFETY + RISK REGISTER

The pilot is a safety case with a product wrapped around it.

Controls shown are design hypotheses. A competent fire engineer, waste specialist, insurer, manufacturer and treating partner must own verification before field use.

Emergency rule

If a battery is hot, swollen, leaking, smoking, hissing, crushed or wet, the kiosk must refuse the deposit and direct the person away from handling it further to an approved local emergency or hazardous-waste route. A public kiosk is not a quarantine device.

10 / PROJECT DOSSIER

Take the concept into a sponsor conversation.

The documentation pack separates the pitch, product requirements, technical intent, safety assumptions, operations, data rules and pilot governance so each specialist can review the right layer.
